Principles of operation
In contrast to conventional heating technology, a Combined Heat and Power system (CHP) not only produces heat but also power.
Heat + power from one source

This technology, which has been tried and tested for decades, combines a combustion engine with a generator (cogeneration system). The waste heat from the engine is used for heating purposes. The generated electricity is used in-house or fed back into the grid.

In conventional large-scale power plants, only one third of the fuel energy is, on average, converted into electricity as the waste heat cannot be used and is released into the environment.
energiewerkstatt´s decentralized small CHPs provide a total efficiency of over 90% and contribute considerably to saving our environment. There are also no distribution losses as in an elaborate district heat system or investment costs associated with such a system.
